May 24. Kelli Tysinger. After yesterday's terribly scary experience paddling through the shoals, I find it comforting to be on an old Dairy Farm Ranch. It is equiped with a family of two boys, ages 11 and 7 and a loving grandmother with a caring, loving father and mother.

It is funny how things on the river seem so relaxed, so flowing. You have to go with the flow because you don't need to fight it. It will just make things worse for you. Staying on H.R. Hall's land has been so awesome! The nature of our trip is to rely on others to help us on our journey down the Catawba. Then, just to take us in and treat us well and help us out. H.R. had done this trip before. He has done the same thing we are doing. So he is sharing the hospitality that he has seen on the river or the lack thereof.

So it is very comforting to sit around the fire, hearing all about his stories and everything he has to share with us about the river. It is awesome, the river. It is awseome to see that a commumnity still exists like this...sharing, hospitable people. It is so awseome. So thank you Hall family....and all the others what have helped us so far. It is a great help!

  1. Kelli! Sounds awesome! It was really good to hear from you even if it was just a few texts.

It is an exciting thing to find people that are willing to take people in and be hospitable. I know the feeling for relying on someone all too well. I can't wait to hear all your stories from this amazing adventure.

I love you and can't wait to see you.

  2. I'm glad to read that you all are having such a good time and getting to experience so many wonderful places. I'm pretty jealous in all honesty. Through all the sun and sore muscles, remember that you are lucky for many reasons that I know and many I don't. Enjoy the rest of the adventure and I'll enjoy the reading material.
